A Thrust Bearing is designed to handle only thrust (side-to-side) load applications. Depending on the application, the Thrust Bearing is available with two different roller elements: cylindrical rollers or balls. A Ball Thrust bearing is able to rotate at a high speed but handles less load when compared to a Roller Thrust bearing. A Roller Thrust bearing, on the other hand, is able to handle higher thrust loads but rotates slower due to the increased contact area.
